. the Bible tells us that we are spirit, soul and body.The real you is the spirit.  This is the part of you that will live for eternity!  It will exist forever in hell or in heaven!  If you receive Jesus as your Lord,you will live in heaven forever!   
You have a soul which is your mind, emotions and will..  This is where the real battle exists after you make Jesus the Lord of your life.  You live  in a body.<an  earth-suit  for your spirit>. re  
  sin separates us from god.  according to the bible ~all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god...  romans 3:23.   the payment for sin is death {romans 6:23}  
But God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever [this means you] will believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life! God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but rather he sent him to save it.  God Loves You! God is love[1john4:8]God is not willing that one person should perish but that All should be saved! {2-peter 3:15}   
so ... saved  means : GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH -HE WAS UNWILLING TO GIVE UP ON YOU:SO HE MADE A WAY TO FREE YOU FROM THE SIN NATURE AND THE POWER OF EVIL IN THE WORLD-TO WIPE AWAY YOUR SINS- MAKE YOU CLEAN AND GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE WITH HIM

I saved from what?- -from sin and the  effects of it. sin =  DEATH ( SEPARATION FROM GOD )spiraling downward  decay  of ones spirit (inner man ) soul
( mind-will-emotions ) and body  ( earth suit ) -this is not gods will- GOD SENT HIS SON INTO THIS WORLD TO DIE FOR YOU  SO  THAT YOU COULD LIVE FOREVER!!!
